Recap

On the back of a dramatic last minute comeback in their previous game, Cambridge Handball Club’s Men’s Second team looked to secure their first victory of the season as they faced Thames HC in Barking’s Sporthouse. Both teams brought few substitutes, though the frantic start belied this: both teams exchanged goals early on, with many of Thames’ goals capitilising on Cambridge errors. Cambridge pulled back after Thames gained an early lead, but soon found themselves behind again. Despite the best attacking efforts of Nico Martin and Jean-Daniel Malcor for Cambridge, the team struggled to keep Thames’ experience and physical presence at bay. Thames continued to establish their lead further throughout the second half, eventually winning 31-24. Cambridge will look to take lessons from the match into the next weekend, as they join their clubmates in a triple-header against Olympia HC.
