Cambridge HC Men RDL vs London GD Men RDL

Cambridge HC Men 2nd21Draw
London GD Men 3rd21Draw

This weekend marked the start of the season for all three senior Cambridge Handball teams, with all playing their London GD counterparts at the Sporthouse in Barking. Cambridge 2nds opened proceedings, facing a London GD II team for the first time. Both teams opened strongly, but defensive mistakes and 2-minute suspensions from ill-timed tackles saw the Cambridge team trail at several points, despite some brilliant goalkeeping from Graham Jack and Pierre Larraufie. With 3 minutes to go, Cambridge trailed by 3 goals, but an offensive defence disoriented the opposition enough to reduce this deficit to 1, with seconds to go. A well planned attacking move from Cambridge resulted in a penalty award on the buzzer: a dramatic finish to a tight game. The responsibility fell to Oli Holway, coolly dispatching the penalty to draw level at 21-21, much to the elation of the Cambridge squad, capping off a solid team performance.
